Get Fit Now
The secret to staying with a fitness program is finding the right workout that engages you and keeps you coming back for more. There are so many different ways to stay fit that there is no excuse for not exercising. Exercise is the key to staying healthy, both mentally and physically. It protects your body from many diseases and it just makes you feel better. The key to the success of a fitness program is to find something you love doing. To do that you may have to be adventurous and try and some activities you never even thought of doing. Have you heard about the latest fitness craze called Cy-Yo, or how about Callanetics, or snow shoeing as an option? And word is out that the way to lose weight and get fit is to make Fido your exercise buddy.

Try the latest in fitness

Cy-Yo is new to the fitness world and is a combination of yoga, and speed cycling using a stationary bike. The workout is all about the sequencing of the activities. First you do ten minutes of fitness exercises of yoga, then you move into approximately 40 minutes on a stationary bike, then you complete the fitness program with ten additional minutes of yoga to quiet down and center yourself. Many fitness centers are offering this new form of exercise and it might just be the combination to work for you.
Another new popular workout is called Callanetics in which the participant uses their own body weight or light weights while performing non impact pulses or small body movements. This repetition of small movements is good for the heart and it works the muscles at a deep level. This fitness program provides lots of variations in the workouts so you don't get bored while you get fit now.
If you are in an area where there is enough snow, snowshoeing is making a comeback as a fun athletic activity. Snowshoes have been around for thousands of years and were originally used as way to get around. Now snowshoeing is a way to get out in nature, have fun and get a workout. It is a great cardiovascular workout and helps to tone the entire body. Snowshoeing is also an activity you can do with your family or your husband or boyfriend to add to the fun. Modern snowshoes are reasonably priced and much lighter than their earlier forms, safer and easier to put on. Instead of the traditional wood frames, snowshoes are now made from lightweight aluminum.

Try your local gym for new ideas

If you haven't been by your local gym lately check it out. Gyms are now offering ballroom dancing, rock wall climbing, spinning, ballet, tae kwan do, gigong, zumba, creative movement, exercise classes for seniors, karate and all sort of other interesting activities in addition to swimming, tennis and basketball. Attending a class at the local gym is also a way to meet people and have some fun.

Make your pet your exercise partner

A new study from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine found that combining people and pets in a fitness program was more successful than if the humans dieted and exercised alone. The study ran for a full year and the humans and their pets participated in ½ hour activities three times a week in addition to a low calorie diet. Both dogs and humans lost an average of eleven pounds each
